2012 Starts with “Just One Shabbat”

Over 200 young Jews flew to Athens, Greece for New Year’s weekend, to greet the new calendar year with kosher luxury mania. Dubbed “Just One Shabbat”, the weekend saw 5-star accommodations, world history and a warm Shabbat experience converge for an unforgettable experience with new and old friends.

Participants were treated to an ongoing schedule of tours through Athens, the oldest city of the world. These enchanting and breathtaking walking tours were open from Friday morning until Monday evening. Throughout the weekend, guests, all aged 18 to 35, engaged in interactive workshops on Judaism and personal-growth as well as discussions on Israel.

Among the entertainment features was the New Year′s Black Tie Ball, held on Saturday night after Shabbat and organized by local Jewish students, with live music by the Or L′Israel band.
Security was present for the duration of the event and new participants underwent a screening process before being accepted on the program.

Just One Shbbat was hosted by the European Centre for Jewish Students (ECJS.org) and received grants from the EJDF and Matanel.
